Like any given Tuesday or Friday in the OK Red, the Rockford-Grandville clash was a battle of wills. Nothing comes easy in conference play, whether at home or on the road, and Tuesday's gritty Rams victory was evidence of that.
The Rams were down after a quarter but stormed to a 5-point halftime lead behind 15 first half points from senior Ryan Gamm. The lead ballooned to 14 in the 3rd quarter, but the Bulldogs battled back to cut it to three heading into the final stanza. The Rams clung to a tight lead when Gamm made a great block to save a fast break lay-up but went down with an injury that would knock him out of the game.
A clutch three by senior Jesse Van Fleet and a game-sealing full court "TD Pass" from Nate Anderson to Jason Majerle sealed the thrilling victory for the Rams, who move to 1-2 in conference play.
Rockford was led by Gamm's 23 points and 10 rebounds with a pair of critical 12-point performances by Anderson and Majerle. Anderson also had 7 assists on a night where the players celebrated teachers that have inspired them in their lives.
The Rams travel to Caledonia to take on the OK Red newcomer this Friday night at 6pm.
