The 2016 edition of the Battle of I-96 got off to an exciting start with the closest contest of the game tipping at noon.
2015-16 Class B semi-finalist Williamston came out firing early and often, nailing 12-18 three point attempts during the game, led by a blazing 7-8 by junior guard Cole Klevier who ended the game with 25 points.
However, the Rams battled back from double digits down behind clutch post play from Ryan Gamm (27 points), and hot shooting from Teague Farley (17) and Jason Majerle (16). Rockford got a clean look to tie it at the end but fell to 0-4 on the season with the 73-70 defeat.
The Rams are off until December 28 when they face Godwin Heights in the opener of the Cornerstone Christmas Classic.
