Rockford got to the free throw line more frequently than East Kentwood in the boys varsity basketball game, which proved to be the difference maker in the final score; Rockford, 56 and East Kentwood, 53.
There were no lead changes in the game as Rockford posted an 18-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Rockford went on to open up their biggest lead in the second quarter by 14 points. At the half Rockford led 33-23
Rockford remained strong in the third and fourth quarters to hold off East Kentwood and finishing with the win.
Matt Karamol had the game high point total of 23 points. He shot 75% from the field (6 out of 8) and 100% from the free throw line shooting 11 for 11.
Ryan Majerle also scored double digits chipping in 13.
